Thought for Today: KNOW THYSELF - Mastery of Self
The Key Questions for the Days of Change
To keep growing, to cultivate firm strength, flow of life, evolution of self, self-sovereignty you need to have:
a) enough rest to regenerate your physical body, to rest your mind, to integrate all you've experienced and learnt;
b) enough action, movement and effort to continue flow and blossom.
All that needs to be in balance and yet balance doesn't mean a mix of each in the ratio of 50:50 but the right dynamic proportionate balance depending on energetic context inside yourself and in the outer world we all flow in and the cosmic powers and patterns that flow through us. 'Dynamic' here means naturally and proportionately changing to fit the flow of changes within the universe (in the wholeness of our internal and external one).
How much of anything is too much, and how too little of anything in your life is too little? How do you know, what are the signs - can you read them, can you perceive them?
To answer this needs self-mastery of the art of Discernment, self-knowledge - as is written above the gate of Delphi: Know Thyself.
However, 'Know Thyself' is not a static art. It is 'Know Thyself' in all the growing, change, transformation, in the dynamics of one's own evolution and as such is an ongoing game of exploration and cultivation. What is important - it's not meant to be a chore or burden but joyful exploration, playful adventure. Yes, the commitment is seriously and responsibly made but the cultivation itself can be as light and magical as a child exploring the secret garden of the World.
Important question that are helpful to ask ourselves, especially nowadays within the melee of the world, amidst the fast-changing currents of times are:
Do you know the inner architecture and dynamics of my own resources within? How do they change, behave, fluctuate with different seasons of the world outside and the different seasons of my own life, how do they work with the different rhythms, life circumstances and the bigger energetics, the macrocosmic weather patterns and they fast big changes? And how can I work with that to the greatest effect, stability and well-being.
Another key things in this fast changing intense world is to cultivate embodied strength, firmness and self-sovereignty.
Right now and the foreseeable future the most important skills are:
The ability to manage discomfort (archetypally The Warrior)
Keeping the right type of discipline (archetypally The Warrior)
Cultivated Discernment (Archetypally The Sage)
Presence & awareness (The Sage/Shaman/Warrior)
Cultivating Inner Silence & listening abilities (Archetypally The Alchemist/The Enchantress) - which is not necessarily listening to words but for the information that flow through the visible and invisible world of the macrocosmos/outer universe and the microcosmos/our bodymind; Bagua flow & repatterning; the patterns of Power & Destiny.
The questions that help to look at:
Theme of Managing Discomfort/Strength/Resilience:
How do you manage discomfort?
What and how make you uncomfortable today? What information does that give you? What actions do you need?
How do I embody strength? How does Sovereignty feel in my body?
To cultivate strength in this area: go out of your comfort zone each day, 1x discomfort action each day chosen intentionally.
In what situations do I avoid discomfort, and what skill am I leaving unexplored by doing so?
What shape does discomfort take in my body, and what terrain does it ask me to traverse? What does that teach me?
How do I know the difference between discipline that liberates and discipline that punishes?
When I skip structure how do I feel. What type of structure & discipline feels supportive and what type feels draining? (please remember that 'draining' is different from 'tired' - you can do something supportive and nurturing and feel tired, like after a good workout. That's natural tiredness, healthy and supportive).
Theme of discipline/structure:
What form of discipline energizes me instead of burning me out?
Where do I tend to default to others’ opinions—and what does that say about my trust in myself?
What past decision taught me the most about what clarity feels like?
What filters do I consciously or unconsciously use when evaluating information or advice?
Theme of Presence & Awareness:
When I’m truly present, what shifts in my physical posture, breath, or mental state?
What distractions most often pull me out of focus—and how do I train around them?
What are my strongest cues (internal or external) for knowing I’m slipping into autopilot?
What’s the difference between alertness and anxiety in my body—and how do I notice?
So, WHAT ACTION IN TERMS OF DISCOMFORT DID YOU INTENTIONALLY CHOOSE TODAY AND WHAT WILL YOU DO TOMORROW?
HOW DID THE STRENGTH OF THE DECISION & ACTION FEEL IN MY BODY?
PS: If you struggled or 'failed' - awesome! Congratulations - it's valid learning from experience. In that distance WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM IT? WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO DIFFERENTLY NEXT TIME? ... what a perfect opportunity to practice and cultivate presence, awareness, listening and discernment!
